-He/Him. Born 1986. Lives in California with wife and daughter.-
-I have an MA in Management: Organizational Leadership, BS in Business Management, and an AA in Communication. I am self-taught on all other subjects. I learned most everything I know about science, space, biology, geology, physics, etc. from reading books and articles.
-I started writing in 2021 as a competition with my English teacher wife to see who could be the first person to get their book published. She was writing a pirate novel called Red Rook, a magic book called Salem Sisters, and another called The Witching Well. I naively thought getting an agent was about simply writing a good book.
-After my query was rejected by several agents, I decided to self-publish to express my creativity, and write about topics that interest me. For example, in book five, I introduce a sport called duncleball. This Nickelodeon / Survivor games hybrid would likely be cut from a traditionally published book.
-I have unique skills and experience that allowed me to bypass most cost barriers to self-publishing, including Adobe Photoshop, IT tech, photography / videography, and website creation knowledge.
-I have several unique hobbies that influence my writing, and feature in my books, including gold prospecting, crystal hunting, rockhounding, rock polishing, guitar playing, song writing, and goldfish caretaking.
-My favorite TV show is The Big Bang Theory. The tone of the show influences my writing voice. My favorite band is Coldplay.
-I'm a Type 2 Diabetic, so cooking good food is important to me. I crave flavor, and love to try out ideas for food recipes. Some of my family's handcrafted recipes feature in my novels.
-I have struggled with depression, anxiety, and communication issues my entire life. Some of my deepest pains are expressed through the struggles of my characters. Writing is therapeutic for me. It allows me to express myself in ways unavailable in any other mode of expression, except perhaps music. That is the inspiration behind the name "Carmen Cor."
-It means, "heart song," or song of the heart. The name references the struggles of voice and identity. It is a message of empowerment to the marginalized, and a missive of love to the voiceless. It is my hope that my writing can have a positive impact on the lives of my readers.
