I’m now well into my mid-fifties and have spent my life mainly working in financial services (banks and insurance companies), including Bank of America, as a Reward Consultant, and more recently working on the implementation of global Human Resources systems. I love American Football (we have to say ‘American’ to distinguish it from real football, or what you call ‘soccer’!) and I support the Green Bay Packers who I am hoping to see Live when they come to England later this year for a regular season NFL game. I have two grown up children and am married to Tina who is a schoolteacher. I live in Somerset just south of Bristol on the side of England that faces America across the Atlantic!
One of the hardest challenges in being an author is not the writing of the book - that's the easy part - it's getting noticed in a world that sees 2 million new fiction titles issued in the US and UK every single year. I approached Jennie with a request to review The Waterman, after finding her on Twitter and quite frankly, I was blown away by what she did to help me to promote my book. Not only did she wax lyrical about how much she had enjoyed it - including asking me some key questions about the ending and the plot line - but she also gave it an amazing 5-star review. Now that alone would have been sufficient and would have left me feeling happy and my work appreciated, but she went the extra mile and a half, by adding her review onto Goodreads and Amazon AND writing up on her own website an author interview (my 1st ever) and a blog spot for me to provide some more background on my story! As a result I saw a significant increase in coverage in the US, including some extra sales and tagged comments, all of which ensured that my profile across the pond is significantly better than it was before I encountered Jennie. I am so grateful for all she has done for me and I can wait to share with her my next novel - The Burning - as well as the planned prequels to The Waterman which I have only firmed up on since receiving such a glowing review from her for the original story which has inspired me to write the rest, though as the first one was 30 years in the making, I may need to live til 120 to achieve that aim.
